Tara Duque graduated from The Soma Institute of Clinical Massage Therapy, Chicago, IL in 2004. The Soma Institute of Clinical Massage Therapy has been regarded as a leader in clinical massage therapy curriculum. The Soma curriculum includes human anatomy and physiology (212 clock hours), clinical integration (64 clock hours), clinical massage therapy technique and applications (204 clock hours), kinesiology (48 clock hours), pathology (52 clock hours), sports massage, prenatal massage, clinical education in the Soma student clinic, and an externship at Northwestern Memorial Hospital Oncology Department. Tara has 700 clock hours of study at the Soma Institute, and is currently in a Nursing Program as a part-time student to further her clinical and medical knowledge. Currently Licensed by The Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork, the licensing body for massage practitioners in the United States, Tara is also an active member of Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals. Since 2004 Tara has developed deep tissue and myofascial release techniques that have proven to alleviate pain for many of her loyal clientele in the North Shore and Chicago. Tara has helped clients live more comfortable and functional lives by facilitating their body's innate ability to heal itself. Many clients who have pain and discomfort associated with bulging/herniated discs, spinal fusion, spinal trauma, rotator cuff tears, carpal tunnel, and sports injuries will find that a customized massage session will reveal muscular compensations in the body that hold patterns of spasm and pain. Trigger point therapy, myofascial release, and active participation of the client will aid to break this cycle of pain and spasm . Tara is happy to serve new clients on the North Shore, and is currently working with a small group of massage therapists to serve clients on the North Shore and Chicago. Tara travels frequently to Glenview, Highland Park, Kenilworth, Lake Forest, Northbrook, and Winnetka. All therapists who are affiliated with Tara's North Shore Massage are licensed and insured, as well as experienced and dedicated to delivering the highest standards of massage therapy.
